I Am The Altar...

I am the altar
Wherein I worship mighty gods.
Gods who dwell on highest places
Of this paper-thin
Colorless
Formless
Mountain
That I Am.

No substance here.
I am so much more
Than dust and water.
Mud.
I am.
Mud.
From the spaces
Where rocks hide many faces
And show you only one.
You see?

Shadows cast about.
Light shines.
Waters of my soul shimmer.
In that formless temple of gods
We meet.
Join in worship.
Power once beyond
Never yet begun
I seek you yet.

Morning sun touched
Needles of pine
Never crawled upon.
No cradle for babe unborn.
Child lost.
Shadows.
Setting sun.
In the end
I am
Altar.
Sacrifice my self
Worship false gods
Unknown.
