Yesterday - A Poem

Yesterday
A book
An empty shelf
Shroud of dust
Left behind
So long ago.

Another self?

We meet
Greet
Aware Divine
Silver thread spun fine
Sensed more than seen
Intuitively surmised lacking

Substance?

Something real defined
No doubt
Trembling hand
Reaches
Opens
Lingering sense of me

Inspired?

Shared within
A treatise
My Little Book of Love
In child's hand
Dust brushed away
Trust rising

A link?

Innocence
Lost
Recognized key
Unlocks dark places
Child within
Who knew

Love?

Look
Nothing
Turn
Disbelief
Turn turn turn
Empty pages

All?

All
She believed
Love would fill a book
But not a word
Not a word
She knew no more of love than I.

Surprised?

Kicking the Dog - A Poem

"Stop that!
"You better stop that now!
"Why are you kicking that dog?" he cried in disbelief.

"Because, he's bad."
"Really, really, really bad," she said.
"And because he makes me very, very, very mad."

"That's no reason,
"No reason to kick a dog.
"There's never a good reason to kick a dog."

"There's not?"
"Never? Ever? No matter what?"
Eyes opened wide, surprised, she asked, "But..."

"But... if it's wrong to kick a dog,
"For no reason, not even if he's very bad,
"Or when I'm feeling really mad, then why" she cried,

"Why, when it's me that's bad,
"Or when he's feeling screaming crazy-mad,
Says he's seeing red, 'cause of something I did or said,

Why is it okay then when it's Dad that's kicking me?"

All Life Suffering... - A Poem

All Life Suffering...
All Life
Mystics Say
Nothing Suffering

Along the Way
Timeless Space
Nothing Supreme

No Thing Is
More Real Dream
Call Life Everything

But Illusion
Birth Death
Spring Forth Silent Collusion

Conspire Lightly
Drifting Dark
Less Notice Less Growth

Suspect
Singing Morning Lark
Notice Child Living Flower Dying

Know
Absent Lying
Less Truth

Cowardly Aged Lion
Lacking Claw
No Tooth

Stalk
Night Tide Hunter
Lesser Beast of Prey Pray

No Suffering
Bruised Children
No Pain No Rainbow

No Illusion
Children Hiding
Crying Dying Not.

All Life Suffering
Not
No Thing No Suffering.

Scarecrow Lies? - A Poem

sometimes
i
lie
but never scarecrow!

because
you
see
he could never lie!

you
have
to
know what truth is

before you ever lie about it.

Death of Dreams - A Poem

I threw away
Yesterday
Things I thought were me.
Letters of appreciation
Pictures showing recognition
Records of successful deeds
Certificates
Thick as weeds
Growing wild in garden now forgotten
No longer tended
Fruits all rotten
To the very core of each.

Still I reach
Grope
Seek
Don't find
Meaning.
Blind
I cannot see
Something left of me
Something-not that trash
Burnt quickly to an ash-
Something
Meant
Only to inspire.

Longing.
An other dream?
Tired
I dare not dream
Dare not sleep.
Death of Dreams
Means
Agony
Screams
Wait impatiently.
Be free.
Dare to dream.

Ever enough abuse and neglect?

Ever Enuff?

If you're hungry,
Hungry Enuff,'
Go ahead. Eat that food.
Else child, let someone else,
Someone really hungry enuff,
Eat it 'stead of you.

If you're sick.
Sick enuff.
Go ahead. Lay in bed.
Don't give a thought for those
Who in your stead do the extra work
You ought-ta.

If you're scared,
Scared enuff,
Not fakin' for attention,
Go ahead. Call for help.
Whine and yelp like a
Useless whelp that always needs attendin'.

If you're tired,
Tired enuff,
Not just being lazy.
Go ahead. Rest a bit.
We'll get the work done, all of it,
Even what you left undone.

If you're sad,
Sad enuff,
To cry real tears,
Go ahead. Shed them.
But go where others won't hear,
And feel worse from your selfish wailin'.

If you're cold,
Cold enuff,
Take that extra blanket.
'Tis true if cold,
We'll suffer less,
We're tough enuff to stand it.

If you're askin,'
Asking if I have enuff?
Asking if I'm hungry, sick or scared,
Tired, sad, or even cold? If I need..anything?
No. No. Now I'm old and finally had enuff.
Enuff! Enuff! Enuff!

I saw a snail today... - A Poem

I saw a snail today!
That's nice.
And what was he doing?
Nothing.
Just like me.
Only enjoying the warm sunshine.
The colors.
The smells.
The sounds.
The tastes of the world.
We shared a moment together.
That's nice.
Be sure to wash your hands before dinner.
